BevelHero Privacy Policy

Effective date: [DATE — set when published] Applies to: BevelHero private beta (web app) Contact: [YOUR SUPPORT EMAIL]

BevelHero helps you keep track of your home appliances, remember their maintenance, and troubleshoot problems. To do that, we store information you give us about yourself and your appliances. This policy explains — in plain language — what we collect, why, who else touches it, and what control you have. We wrote it to be read, not skimmed.

The short version: we collect your account info, the appliance details and photos you add, and your troubleshooting chats. We use them only to run BevelHero for you. We don't sell your data, we don't run ads during the beta, and we don't use advertising trackers. You can delete everything yourself, instantly, right in the app — or ask us to do it for you.

1. Who we are

BevelHero is currently a small private beta operated by an individual developer [YOUR NAME / ENTITY], based in Texas, USA. It is not yet a company with a data team — in practice, that means the developer administers the database that holds your information. We're telling you this because honesty about scale matters: your data is protected by the safeguards described below, but this is a beta, not a bank.

2. What we collect

Account information. When you sign up we collect your email address and, if you use Google or Facebook sign-in, the name and profile basics those services share (we request only basic profile and email — never your contacts, files, or posts). If you sign up with a password, we never see or store the password itself; it is hashed by our authentication provider.

Appliance information you add. Nicknames, categories, brands, model numbers, serial numbers, where the appliance is in your home (optional), purchase dates, and warranty details.

Photos you upload. Pictures of appliance model stickers, and later receipts or photos of problems. Sticker photos are temporary by design: once our system extracts the appliance details and you confirm they're correct, the sticker photo is automatically deleted — we keep the text, not the picture. Receipt photos are kept, because their purpose is to serve as your stored proof of purchase for warranty claims. A practical caution for any upload: photos can capture more than you intend (your garage, reflections, paperwork in the background). Upload only what you're comfortable storing.

Warranty and protection-plan contracts. If you use the Coverage feature, the contract PDFs you upload are stored in your private storage (only you can access them) along with the details our AI extracts from them (provider, dates, covered items, claim contacts). You can delete a plan and its PDF at any time.

Troubleshooting conversations. When you use the "Fix an Issue" chat, the messages you write — plus the relevant appliance's details — are processed by our AI provider (Anthropic's Claude API) to generate help, and the conversation is saved to your account so you can revisit past fixes.

Reminder delivery details. Your email address for maintenance reminders. If SMS reminders launch, your phone number — only if you choose to add it.

Technical basics. Like nearly every website: session cookies to keep you signed in, and standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) generated by our hosting provider. We use cookies only for sign-in sessions — not for advertising or cross-site tracking.

3. What we do NOT collect or do

4. How we use your information

We do not use your data to train AI models. Our AI provider processes your chat and photo content to generate responses; under the API terms we use, Anthropic does not train its models on this API data.

5. Who else touches your data (service providers)

BevelHero runs on established infrastructure providers, each receiving only what their role requires:

| Provider | Role | What they handle | |---|---|---| | Supabase | Database, authentication, file storage | Account info, appliance records, photos, chats (stored in US data centers) | | Vercel | Web hosting | Serves the app; standard server logs incl. IP addresses | | Google / Facebook | Optional sign-in | Confirms your identity; shares basic profile info with us at your direction | | Anthropic | AI processing | Receives chat messages, appliance context, and sticker photos to generate responses | | Resend | Email delivery | Your email address and reminder contents |

Each provider is bound by its own security and privacy commitments. We chose them in part because they publish those commitments clearly.

6. How your data is protected

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS everywhere) and at rest by our database provider. Accounts are isolated: the app's database rules (row-level security) are designed so each user can access only their own records. Access to the production database is limited to the developer. Backups are taken regularly so your data isn't lost.

No system is perfectly secure, and we won't pretend otherwise. If we learn of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you promptly at the email on your account and describe what happened and what we're doing about it.

7. How long we keep it

Your data stays as long as your account is active. If you delete an appliance, its records (including its chats and photos) are removed from the live database and disappear from backups as backups rotate. If you delete your own account in the app (Notifications → Delete my account), everything — your appliances, tasks, chats, warranty contracts and PDFs, receipts, and preferences — is deleted immediately and irreversibly. If you ask us to delete it for you instead, we delete all your personal data within 30 days, except minimal records we're legally required to keep, if any.

8. Your choices and rights

Texas residents: the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act provides rights to access, correct, delete, and obtain a copy of personal data. Regardless of where you live, email us at [YOUR SUPPORT EMAIL] and we will honor these requests for any beta user.

9. Beta-specific realities

BevelHero is pre-release software. Features change, and occasionally bugs happen. Two honest implications: (1) if a bug affects data, we may need to inspect the affected records to fix it; (2) when the beta ends or major versions change, we may migrate your data to the new version — your data comes with you, this policy still applies.

10. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in ways that matter (new data types, new providers, ads, paid plans), we'll email the address on your account before the change takes effect and note the new effective date here. Continuing to use BevelHero after a change means you accept the updated policy.
